MINERAL PAINTING

Although we offer traditional brick paint (Loxon XP), when painting brick homes here are some of the reasons we specialize in using a mineral based product.

Mineral paints do not simply sit on top of the surface.  Instead, they penetrate and form a permanent chemical bond with the mineral substrate (brick, stucco, concrete, etc.).  This chemical bond essentially means the paint becomes part of the substrate and will never peal or blister.

• • Colors Fast: Mineral paints are tinted with inorganic colorants from the earth (nothing man made).  These pigments never fade meaning your color will stay true for the life of the coating.

     

  • Vapor Permeable: Mineral paints are highly vapor permeable so any moisture vapor trapped inside the buildings envelope will escape through the substrate and coating without causing any damage.

     

  • Weather Resistant: Mineral paints are also extremely weather resistant and pass the ASTM E514 test for wind driven rain (no water intrusion).

     

  • Stays Cleaner: Mineral paints have a PH of 11 or more so they naturally resist algae, fungus and mold growth. These coatings remain hard and cool even in hot/humid climates which allow them to remain clean. Other coatings tend to soften in hot/humid climates which allows dust and environmental pollutants to “cling” and stick to the surface.

     

  • Incombustible: Mineral paints are incombustible and will not add fuel to a fire or noxious gasses into the environment in the case of a fire.
