Matthews has a real mix of homes. There are older houses near downtown and Trade Street, established neighborhoods built in the 1980s and 1990s, and newer infill homes going up around town. Perfection Painting Pros has painted interiors across the Charlotte area for more than 15 years, and a lot of our Matthews work is bringing well-loved homes up to date.
Many Matthews homes still have the colors, textures and finishes they were built with: dated trim colors, textured or popcorn ceilings, wallpaper in kitchens and bathrooms, and oak cabinets. Painting is the fastest way to modernize them. We remove wallpaper, repair and smooth the walls underneath, repaint trim in a clean modern color, and paint cabinets so the kitchen looks new without a remodel.
Older homes can have oil-based paint on the trim, several layers of old paint, or glossy surfaces that new paint will not grip on its own. We clean, sand and use the correct bonding primer before painting so the finish doesn’t peel or chip later. That extra step is what makes the difference between a repaint that lasts and one that needs redoing.
You don’t pay until the job is finished and you’re satisfied, and our work is backed by a 1-year warranty.
Many Matthews homes were built in the 1980s and 1990s, and by now the exterior has been through two or three paint cycles. That is when trim starts to rot, caulk fails and older siding needs more than a fresh coat. Perfection Painting Pros has painted homes around Charlotte for more than 15 years, and we fix those problems before we paint.
Rot shows up first on window sills, door frames, fascia boards and the bottom edges of siding. We probe for soft wood, replace what is damaged, and prime the repairs before painting. Some older homes also have hardboard siding that swells when water gets in. We seal edges and repaint to keep it protected, and we will tell you honestly if boards need replacing.
We also paint older homes near downtown and Trade Street, where wood siding and porches need careful scraping and priming. The prep takes longer, and we build that into the estimate so there are no surprises.
Every exterior starts with a walkthrough and written estimate, then pressure washing, scraping, repairs, caulking and priming before any finish coat. Our work is backed by a 1-year warranty, and you don’t pay until the job is complete and you’re satisfied.
Can you paint over oak cabinets?
Yes. Oak has an open grain, so we clean, degloss and prime properly first. You can choose to fill the grain for a smoother finish or leave some texture.
Do you remove popcorn ceilings?
Yes. We remove the texture, smooth the ceiling and repaint it. For older ceilings we recommend testing the texture before it is disturbed.
How do I know if my trim has wood rot?
Soft spots, peeling paint that keeps coming back, and dark staining around sills and corners are common signs. We check every trim board during the estimate.
Can hardboard siding be painted?
Yes, if it is still in good shape. Swollen or crumbling boards should be replaced first, and all edges need to be sealed.
How long does an exterior repaint take in Matthews?
Most homes take four to seven working days depending on size, repairs and weather.
We paint inside and out, so one visit covers both. See our interior painting and exterior painting services for the full details. Call 704-200-4268 or request a free estimate online.
